April 3, 2020|Outdoor Activities, Who we are

It is hard (very hard) for the DeVore family to stay at home, especially with such amazing weather. We realize that we all need to do our part to “flatten the curve”. Here at the Emergency Response Training Center, we have 13 beautiful acres that we have neglected while adventuring. Time to bring it home.
In 2013, our youngest daughter was turning 4. Her birthday fell on Earth Day, so we had an Lorax Earth Day Birthday Party. I decided that we needed to have a trail, so that is where it began. It took a while, but after long hours, we had a trail around the perimeter of our wooded property. It was about .5 mile. We even painted blazes (purple) on the trail to keep anyone that tackled it on track. I made a scavenger hunt along the trail for party-goers to play. Of course, it rained that day. Not only did it rain, but it POURED! Did I make them go out on the trail that I had given blood, sweat, and tears on. You bet!
Fast forward to today. The trail is almost back to it’s original condition. It is going to take A LOT of more and more blood, sweat, and tears to bring it back to it’s glory. We are up for the challenge! I am hoping that over the next couple of weeks, I can get the girls to come out with me on this adventure. As you can see, I did get them out today. Unfortunately, after about an hour, the both suddenly has schoolwork to do. Suspicious!
Don’t forget to “subscribe” to my blog so you can keep up with the trail re-creation.
